Below are some easy methods to reduce the energy consumed at home and at the office, thus saving money as well as protecting the environment.
Replace incandescent bulbs with energy saving bulbs.
Turn off electrical appliances using the central ON-OFF switch. Do not leave them on standby mode.
Install insulation in the house.
Open the windows in summer and choose natural lighting.
Unplug chargers when charging is complete.
Reduce the temperature in your washing machine and put as many clothes as possible in the drum.
Choose a laptop computer with a flat monitor and turn it off using the central ON-OFF switch when not in use.
Make sure that your pot covers the cooker stove and that the lid is on the pot while cooking. Turn off the stove a couple of minutes before cooking is completed. Do not open the oven door without good reason.
Make sure that you new appliances have a good energy savings rating (A++, A+, A).
At the office
Keep the windows closed when the air conditioning is on.
Unplug your laptop and cell phone chargers when charging is complete.
Choose natural lighting if possible and do not turn on the lights for no good reason.
Switch off the lights in the office when you go out.
Make printouts on an ‘as needed’ basis only.
Unplug any appliances not in use.
Turn off your computer using the central ON-OFF switch before you leave the office.
Unplug any appliances which you do not intend to use soon.
